| Note | Reginald Clarke, 23, (skipper)on his maiden voyage as skipper of the CAPTAIN RIOU committed suicide, by drinking the contents of a fire extinguisher, around the 25th June off the Outer Hebrides. He had become depressed due to losing £500 worth of fishing gear and having a bad catch. He was brought back to Fleetwood on his first wedding anniversary. The inquest was in July 1959 |
