Fleetwood Trawlers at Spithead Review

TWO FLEETWOOD TRAWLERS FOR THE CORONATION REVIEW

The two trawlers chosen to represent Fleetwood's fishing industry at the Coronation Naval Review at Spithead are the Red Hackle, owned by the Iago Steam Trawler Co., Ltd., and the Princess Royal, owned by the Boston Deep Sea Fishing And Ice Co., Ltd.

The Red Hackle is a steam trawler of 674 tons gross on dimensions 186.8 ft. o.a. and with a 30.2 ft. beam and a draught of 16.1ft. Of part welded construction, she was built and engineered by John Lewis & Sons Ltd., Aberdeen, and was completed in November 1950.

The Princess Royal, a motor trawler of 318 tons gross is 124.7 ft. o. a. by 25.2 ft. with a draught of 11.8 ft. She also was built by John Lewis and was completed towards the end of last year. Her engine is by Mirlees, Bickerton and Day Ltd., Stockport.
