History

22.8.1929: Launched by Hall, Russell & Co Ltd, Aberdeen (Yd.No.701) for Aberdeen Steam Trawling & Fishing Co Ltd, Aberdeen as STRATHALBYN.
9.1929: Completed.
19.9.1929: Registered at Aberdeen (A48). George Massie designated manager.
1938: W. Rhind designated manager.
12.1940: Fishing some 12 miles ESE of Fetlar, Shetland Isles in company with steam trawlers, DANEDEN (A59)) and STAR of SCOTLAND(A347). DANEDEN attacked by enemy aircraft, bombed and sunk with the loss of all nine crew.
29.12.1942: Sold to Bloomfields Ltd, Gt. Yarmouth. Fishing out of Fleetwood. Bloomfield’s Ltd, Fleetwood managing agents.
27.4.1943: Typical wartime landing, Home Waters. 287 kits – hake-13, cod/codling-13, haddock-215, flats-8, ling/coley-6. gurnard-9, dogs-7.
1.5.1943: Typical wartime landing, Faroe grounds. 800 kits – cod/codling-300, haddock-480, ling/coley-20.
1946: Transferred to Gt. Yarmouth.
28.4.1947: Sold to Thomas Davidson Fishing Co Ltd, Aberdeen.
28.6.1950: Sold to Colonial Development Corporation, London.
11.1950: Taken in hand by Hall, Russell & Co Ltd and fitted with refrigeration plant, fish room modified with metal boxes on railed shelving, crew accommodation air conditioned and other improvements.
17.1.1951: Completed successful trials in Aberdeen Bay.
24.1.1951: Sailed Aberdeen for Lagos (Sk. Alex Flett, Findochty) in company with STRATHBLAIR (A132) (Sk. Tom Normandale).
2.2.1951: Noted. Forecastle added. Alteration to tonnage and other particulars. Certificate of Survey at Aberdeen dated 16.1.1951.
1953: Sank. Refloated and repaired.
13.10.1954: Sold to Nigerian Shipping & Trading Co Ltd, Lagos. (Sk. Flett stayed in Lagos to instruct locals).
1955: Sold for breaking up at Lagos.
15.9.1955: Aberdeen registry closed “Vessel broken up”.
