History

22.8.1929: Launched by Hall, Russell & Co Ltd, Aberdeen (Yd.No.701) for Aberdeen Steam Trawling & Fishing Co Ltd, Aberdeen as STRATHALBYN.
9.1929: Completed (George Massie, manager).
19.9.1929: Registered at Aberdeen (A48).
1938: W. Rhind appointed manager.
12.1940: Fishing some 12 miles ESE of Fetlat, Shetland Isles in company with DANEDEN (A59)) and STAR OF SCOTLAND (A347). DANEDEN attacked by enemy aircraft, bombed and sunk with the loss of all nine crew.
8.1942: Sold to Bloomfields Ltd, Gt. Yarmouth (Bloomfield’s Ltd, Fleetwood, managers).
1946: Transferred to Gt. Yarmouth.
1948: Sold to Thomas Davidson Fishing Co Ltd, Aberdeen.
1950: Sold to Colonial Development Corporation, London.
11.1950: Taken in hand by Hall, Russell & Co Ltd and fitted with refrigeration plant, fish room modified with metal boxes on railed shelving, crew accommodation air conditioned and other improvements.
17.1.1951: Completed successful trials in Aberdeen Bay.
24.1.1951: Sailed Aberdeen for Lagos (Sk. Alex Flett).
1953: Sank. Refloated and repairing.
1954: Sold to Nigerian Shipping & Trading Co Ltd, Lagos.
1955: Sold for breaking up at Lagos.
15.9.1955: Aberdeen registry closed. (Sk. Flett stayed in Lagos to instruct locals).
