History

1917: Launched by Goole Shipbuilding & Repairing Co Ltd, Goole (Yd.No.173) for The Sun Steam Trawling Co Ltd (64/64), Hull as SPRINGWELL.
18.5.1917: Registered at Fleetwood (FD297). James W. Armitage, Fleetwood designated manager.
5.1917: Completed. Requisitioned from the builders for war service as a minesweeper (1-12pdr) (Ad.No.3341) and later used as a convoy escort. Based Devonport.
By 12.3.1919: Returned to owner at Hull. James W. Armitage, Fleetwood designated manager.
1927: Highest single trip landing at Fleetwood – 1127 10st boxes.
1928: Highest single trip landing – 978 boxes.
15.12.1933: In the Sheriff Court, Stornoway, Sk. Henry Elliot, was fined £100 for illegal trawling and £10 for damaging the long lines of the steam drifter/liner HANDY (SY2).
1933: Highest single trip landing – 982 boxes.
13.12.1934: Arrived Leverburgh, Isle of Harris, with salvage equipment to assist steam trawler DANE (H227) which had been safely refloated after stranding off the Monarch Islands. After transferring gear and labour loaded fish and sailed for Fleetwood.
15.12.1934: Arrived Fleetwood and landed 140 boxes ex DANE.
1950s: Only Fleetwood trawler to regularly fish at Faroes. Michael A. Munby designated manager.
21.1.1959: Owners re-styled Sun Trawlers, Fleetwood.
1959: Sold to Michael A. Munby, Fleetwood (Sun Trawlers, managers).
1960: Sold to BISCO and allocated to Thos. W. Ward Ltd, Sheffield for breaking up.
30.8.1960: Delivered Barrow-in-Furness from Fleetwood under own power.
